Working with the community
Theatre for the Community of Newtown
The Alliance Theatre will bring people together by actively generating and encouraging creative opportunities by encouraging local people to become involved and to take part. We will work with schools, established group as well as new groups with a particular aim to encourage those who lack the confidence to join in such activities, or those yet to experience small-scale theatre as culturally relevant or appropriate.

By being available during the day and the evening, Alliance Theatre will provide creative opportunities for everyone. Our inclusive approach will  support all ages affected by complex needs, as well as those with disabilities, and disaffected young people who may lack confidence or current opportunities to actively participate.

Local involvement
This theatre would be designed and run to engage with those areas of the community who may feel socially distanced from live arts based entertainment. These areas would include disadvantaged young people, those with disabilities and cultural minorities. More specifically, we would work with local support groups to encourage participation, as social isolation has been identified as an area of concern within Newtown and the surrounding region.

Through the production and hosting of plays, film nights and other events, we would aim to raise individual confidence, self-esteem, positive change, raise aspirations, improve skills, self-worth and employability.

Everyone is welcome
Alliance Theatre welcomes people from all backgrounds and all ages, with experience or without. We plan to create plays designed to suit the performers wishing to take part with the objective of staging the performance to family, and friends and the general public. If you have ever wanted to perform on stage then this is a great opportunity.

Backstage is also an important part of theatre and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved from handling or making props, operating light and sound equipment, managing the box office, ushering and stewarding, or helping to run the bar.  Why not get in touch with us today and see how you can get involved.
